Etna Park
The Etna Park is a protected natural area of the Sicilian Region, established in 1987. The Etna Park covers about 59000 hectares, and includes 20 municipalities (Adrano, Belpasso, Biancavilla, Bronte, Castiglione di Sicily, Giarre, Linguaglossa, Maletto, Mascali, Milo, Nicolosi, Pedara, Piedimonte Etneo, Ragalna, Randazzo, Sant'Alfio, Santa Maria di Licodia, Trecastagni, Viagrande and Zafferana Etnea). The woods, the paths, the unique panoramas, the typical products and the historical centers of its municipalities, make this park a paradise for: hikers, lovers of food and wine routes, cultural sites, sports, and is able to satisfy all lovers of nature. The Etna Park is divided into 4 areas:
- Zone A (Integral Reserve) - It is the part of the park where there are no human settlements, wild nature is the host in its large uncontaminated spaces.
- Zone B - It is the area of the park characterized by Palmenti, manor houses and small agricultural plots, which bear witness to an important cultural heritage, formed by traditional activities carried out by the locals and significant examples of architecture rural.
- Zones C and D - These areas are called "pre park" and are areas of "controlled development". In these areas there are several tourist settlements, including the Feudo Magazzeni located in Zone C. The development of these areas is done in full respect of the landscape and the environment.
